A name, telephone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the result experience. Shelby County Residents Directory does not retain a copy of those search entries on its own servers. If you contact us, we receive the information included in your message and use it to respond.

We review this information in aggregate to operate and maintain the service. Cookies or similar tools may be used for basic analytics and, where applicable, advertising measurement.

The research for this project did not identify a general Tennessee consumer-privacy statute to cite. Public records held by a Tennessee custodian are different from site data: the Tennessee Public Records Act, T.C.A. §§ 10-7-501–10-7-521, especially § 10-7-503, generally governs access for Tennessee citizens unless another law closes the record. Questions about correction, redaction, or access to an official record belong with the agency that holds it.
